Chad Pittman (Director of Music)

Chad Pittman is Director of Music and Organist for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Massillon where he conducts the adult Chancel Choir and Reformation Ringers bell choir, and coordinates the children’s music program. He also serves as organist for all regular and special services, and coordinates special music and the St. Paul’s concert series.

In addition to his work at St. Paul’s, he is the Director of Choirs at Firestone High School, part of the Akron Public School system, where he conducts and maintains an active choral program of six choirs, and coordinates the voice area of the Akron School for the Arts. His teaching responsibilities include six choirs and several classes in music theory/history and career technical education in music. He is Music Director for the school musicals and coordinates the IB music program. Choirs under his direction consistently earn superior ratings at state adjudicated events, and have received invitations to perform with prominent community, professional, and higher education organizations, and special sessions of OMEA and ACDA.

An active clinician and performer, he has presented workshops and recitals for houses of worship and educational institutions in several states. Immediate Past Dean of the American Guild of Organists, Canton Chapter, he chairs the program committee and is active in coordinating monthly programs and concerts.

He is co-founder of “Two Men and a Bench,” a traveling organ duo, with duet partner Mark Thewes, of Canton. Since 2012, the two have presented concerts in churches and concert halls across the country. Most recently, they were honored with a rare invitation to perform a concert at the National Cathedral in Washington DC.
