Baldwin Wallace Men’s Chorus

One of the most popular types of concerts we host is the collegiate chorus. We have had Capital, Ohio State, Michigan, and Bowling Green in previous years. Seeing the energy, enthusiasm, and skill of these serious young musicians is always uplifting.

Over 110 people were able to enjoy the magnificent concert from the Baldwin Wallace Men’s Chorus along with District 8 High School Singers on the afternoon of October 26.

The Baldwin Wallace University Men’s Chorus (BWMC) is a 70-member community chorus, made up of BW students, faculty, and staff, alongside Northeast Ohio singers. BWMC has performed on WCLV/PBS, at the University of Michigan National Male Chorus Symposium, and the IMC National Convention. The chorus was founded by its longtime director, Mr. Frank Bianchi in 2006. Since 2024, the chorus has been under the direction of Mr. Devon Steve.

The concert “Gloria et Pax” included works by Vivaldi, Sibelius, Kirchner, and Christiansen. It also featured a world premiere piece by composer Nathan Walker. The program concluded with a Festival Chorus made up of a District 8 Honors Choir and the BW Men’s Chorus.

The BW Men’s Chorus is an offering of the Community Arts School and is open to tenor and bass singers, high school age and up, from throughout the Greater Cleveland community including BW faculty, staff and students. This collaborative effort seeks to bring outstanding male chorus singing to Northeast Ohio and beyond. The group has performed to standing-room-only audiences, has collaborated in concert with several outstanding music organizations and has received rave reviews from throughout the Greater Cleveland Community.

During a typical year, the chorus performs a wide variety of choral literature written especially for the male voice. This includes classical literature, as well as some pop and Broadway. Members should have some background in music (instrumental or vocal) and a basic knowledge of music reading and pitch matching.
