Pointing to the Redeemer: The Book of Ruth
The Old Testament contains many scripture passages and stories that point to the Redeemer, Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ. The Book of Ruth is one such story. Even in an ancient culture so different from our own, we see how God uses this story to point toward Jesus, God’s beloved Son, the One to redeem all humanity. The story also reveals God’s love and compassion for a world full of sorrow.
“…Blessed be he by the LORD, whose kindness has not forsaken the living or the dead.” (Ruth 2:20)
During March we continue our study in the book of Ruth and notice the way God uses the kindness and care of others to show the Lord’s character and reveal God’s ultimate purpose of redemption through Jesus Christ. The faithfulness and compassion of these in the story inspire us to demonstrate the same.
Join us for this interesting study and good conversation each Sunday at 11:30. We meet on the top floor of Parish Hall. An elevator is available for easy access.

The Meaning of the Crucifixion

When words fall short, the cross still speaks.
Despite the crucifixion’s central place in Christian faith, the New Testament offers few clear answers about how Jesus’ death saves, or why, exactly, he had to die. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors―ransom, sacrifice, reconciliation, victory―but never explain exactly how it works or why it had to happen this way.
What if that’s because we’ve been asking the wrong question? What if the cross isn’t a transaction to be explained, but a living Word from God meant to transform who we are and how we live?

Your newsletter editor, Carol Butler, has agreed to take photos during the months of February and March for a new online church directory. We are producing this in house to save money. In fact, there will be no cost for the online directory.
Please sign up on the sheets on the tri-fold poster as you enter the sanctuary and indicate whether you are a single or a group shot. Photos will be taken a half hour before the Sunday service and a half hour after service. We will meet in the Narthex of the church. Each photo session will take about 2-5 minutes each.
If you are unable to be at the church for these photos, we will be glad to take submissions of recent photos. You may email those to the church office if you have a digital copy. Or we can scan physical photo that you mail or drop off.

This Lent, we’ll explore how God’s commandments and Jesus’ blessings belong together. From Mount Sinai to the Sermon on the Mount, Scripture reveals a God who calls people into freedom, trust, and love for neighbor—not fear or perfection. We’ll explore how Jesus fulfills and deepens the law, helping us connect faith to everyday life. No Bible expertise required—just curiosity and a willingness to listen.

Around the world, 122 million girls aren’t in school. It’s a staggering number, and behind it are 122 million heartbreaking stories. Especially as education — specifically girls’ education — is the greatest tool we have for breaking the cycle of poverty.
Educated girls change the world. A simple intervention; a life-changing outcome.
Lutheran World Relief has been working successfully in Sierra Leone and know the solution to keeping girls in school. But they need your help.
They are challenging Lutheran congregations to join together and reach 1,000 more girls in 2026 and St. Paul’s would like to use our 40 Days of Giving to help.
In total, it costs about $348 to provide the opportunity for a vulnerable girl to stay in school for one academic year. St. Paul’s gift will make an immediate and lasting impact.
Let’s see how many girls St. Paul’s can educate this year through our 40 Days of Giving.
Midweek Lenten Services
Through the season of Lent, churches in the Massillon area will once again join together for worship and Holy Communion, rotating locations and preachers. Our theme this year is “Objects of the Passion.”
A light dinner of soup and salad will be served at 5:30pm. Then at 6:30pm, we will worship together. Childcare may be provided.
