NEW - St Paul’s Haiti Relief Fund Plans:
Council Members in attendance: Amy Burkett, Gary Collard, Bryan Corban,
Richard Cordes, Connie Crabtree, Tom Hillmer, Polly Klecan, Greg Klein,
Lori Mick, Mark Oster, Kay Singhass, Richard Stern.
President, Greg Klein called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.
This special meeting was .called for Council to determine what St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church’s response would be to the earthquake disaster
in Haiti.
Tom Hillmer presented a motion that St. Paul’s Lutheran Church commit
$1,000 immediately to Haiti relief, and to match congregational giving
up to an additional $4,000 to be taken from the Mission Endowment Fund.
These donations to be sent to and through the ELCA with the initial
$1,000 to be sent immediately, Congregational giving to be sent as
received each week, and matching giving to be sent monthly. This being
in recognition of the urgent and immediate need for money to support
the relief efforts. Richard Cordes seconded the motion. Discussion
was held. One question asked was how much money was in the Mission
Endowment Fund. There is $110,057 in the Mission Endowment Fund. This
fund is part of the First Merit Endowment Fund 05 Account No 14603-01.
There being no further discussion, a vote was called in response to
Tom Hillmer’s motion. Motion was approved.
In order to get the information to the congregation promptly, Pastor
Mark will include it with his monthly article on the front page of
The Bridge. Today is the deadline for the newsletter. Also, the information
will be printed in the weekly church bulletin.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Where were you in '64? That's the
year we celebrated our one-hundredth anniversary. You old timers look for some
familiar faces; funny how much younger they look! And notice the
class sizes.
